A new course to be introduced “Language, Culture, Society”
On 31st March and 7th April in terms of Erasmus + Project “Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration (MultiEd)” a new course “Language, Culture, Society” was discussed to be further introduced in the curriculum aimed at training foreign language teachers.
Dr. Sue Garton, Reader of Applied Linguistics of Aston University (the UK) is in charge of the course development procedure.
The partners of the MultiEd consortium participated in the discussion to define the objectives, content and structure of the new course. The course presupposes to develop the cognitive component of intercultural competences– how language relates to culture and society, how people use the language to preserve their identity and tolerance.
Dr. Sue Garton shared the experience in developing the course according to CLIL approach. The course will comprise the most important issues connected with language studying such as language cognition, communication, evolution, variation, as well as language and culture and language and society.
